JBC incorporates a USB connector on all COMPACT stations

The references have been replaced by the "C" version. Discover the new functions and features that make your job easier.

The "C" version of all soldering and desoldering COMPACT stations has incorporated a USB connector (type B) as its main feature which means you can now:

-Update station software

-Create graphs of the soldering process

- Manage and monitor parameters via PC (coming soon)

In addition, the "C" stations offer improved features that facilitate your work, as shown in the picture.

New to JBC Soldering Tools 2013!

We would like to highlight the following news with the Advanced Series:


-Compact Line: The new "C" version incorporates a USB to upgrade software, generate graphs and monitor parameters from a PC.

-NAST-B: The "B" version of the Nano station has a dual integrated system consisting of a tip cleaning stand and a cartridge extractor/inserter.

-Hot Air Stations: The new "B" version features a USB connection and, in the case of TE-B and TE-QB, a new TE-TB heater and its corresponding stand have been incorporated. In addition, the extractor desk composition has been adapted to new technological demands.

-DDR and HDR: Robot versions for the current DD and HD. Using RS-232 output, the robot manages and monitors the soldering station.


-“D” version: JBC stands have been restyled. See the new adjustable cap for Sleep and Hibernation modes and the curved cable collector which allows easier use of the cartridge extractor.


-T210-PA and T245-PA Handpieces: The blue grips allow the user to visually distinguish the soldering irons for lead jobs (blue) from the unleaded ones (green).

-AL250-B Soldering Iron: The new screw allows the user to adjust for easier alignment of the cartridge.


-Included in the Advanced price list is the SL2020 temp-controlled soldering iron, the SG1070 gas soldering iron and the range of tweezers and pliers that are a perfect complement to all soldering jobs.

Soldering temperatures

Which is the suggested soldering temperature in lead free processes? Our experience shows that 90% of solder joints using JBC tools can be performed successfully at 350ºC or less, in any case it is not recommended to exceed 370ºC.

Why is it possible to solder at lower using a JBC tool? It is possible because the tip has an extremely fast thermal response.

On a conventional iron’s tip there is a strong drop in temperature while the tip is transferring the heat to the board. If the thermal response is slow, the tip does not have the time to recover the temperature, especially if a series of solder joint is performed. This is the reason why the operator is used to select a higher temperature, resulting in short tip life and PCB / component damage.

Which are the advantages of soldering at lower temperature?

- The tips last much longer because of reduced oxidation. This improves the 'wettability' of the tip and therefore also the heat transfer efficiency.

- The flux does not burn directly on the tip, but is activated while soldering. In this way, the tip does not turn dark so quickly and its wettability is better.

- The risk of damaging components and pcb through excessive heat transfer is minimised.

- The process quality is optimized because there are less rework issues and scraps.

Which is the suggested sleep temperature? The factory setting of 220ºC is adecuate for most situations. At this temperature oxidation is lowered to a minimum and ramp up to work temperature, when the tool is taken out of it's stand, will be completed in about a second.

JBC expands the range of T245 and T470 handpieces

JBC has launched T245-B Soft touch handpiece, T470-FA Comfort handpiece foamed with set screw and T470-MA Comfort handpiece foamed with set screw + 3 meter cable.

T245-B Soft Touch handpiece.

It features a new grip more comfortable and safer thanks to the soft touch and non-slip material. Its striated appearance and the short distance between the tip and the handle ensure the best accuracy in soldering for general purpose applications.

T470-FA Comfort handpiece foamed with set screw. 

It incorporates a grip of insulating material that significantly reduces the sensation of heat. It also maintains the set-screw to better secure the cartridge and prevent rotation.

T470-MA Comfort handpiece foamed with set screw + 3m cable

It includes the same features as the T470-FA and supplied with a 3 meter cable. Thus, the user can increase the distance for maneuver in the work area.

All T470 handpieces are ESD safe and work with C470 and C245 cartridges. They are tools designed for extensive soldering applications requiring high energy input.

LEV Testing – What is it? Is it the Law?

Health and safety law says you must assess the risks to your workers from hazardous substances – dusts, fumes, vapours, etc. - and decide what measures to use to protect their health.

If the measures you adopt include extraction systems (LEV) to remove the dusts, fumes, vapours etc. produced by your work processes or activities, then you must maintain the LEV in efficient working order so it continues to provide the necessary protection. You should also have a periodic thorough examination and test (at least every 14 months) and must keep this record for at least 5 years. In addition, you should have information on the installed LEV system to confirm it provides adequate protection, which should be kept for the life of the equipment.

Why Use ESD Black Volume Conductive Bags?

ESD Black volume material offers no or low initial charges and provides a path for the charge to bleed off.  ESD Black Volume Conductive Bags are ideal for the transportation of static sensitive electronic devices such as PCB boards and drive systems.  ESD Black Volume Conductive material is unaffected by humidity, is available in either 300g or 400g thicknesses, although other thicknesses can be supplied to order. Why Use ESD Metallised Static Shielding Bag?

Metallised ESD static shielding bags are manufactured from metallic polyester laminated to an antistatic polythene layer. This provides true shielding for static sensitive devices by way of the ‘Faraday Cage’ principle, and includes an inner anti-static layer to prevent static charge generation. Metallised ESD static shielding bags can be offered as either open top bags or with a resealable closure and are printed with a standard ESD warning symbol. A standard range of bags are available from stock.

Why Use ESD Metallised Moisture Barrier Bag?

Regular Polythene is micro-porous.  ESD Moisture barrier bags have an additional nylon laminate sealing layer to prevent moisture ingression. This is ideal for use where sensitive electronic components are being stored for long periods of time and where air is removed from within the bag during the packing process.  ESD Metallised moisture barrier bags can be offered as either open top bags or with a resealable closure. A standard range of metallised moisture barrier bags are available from stock.

Prolonging JBC Soldering Tip Life

Are you finding your Tips are not lasting as long as you think they should - heres some tips to help you out!

-Our experience shows that 90% of solder joints using JBC tools can be performed successfully at 350ºC (660ºF), in any case it is not recommended to exceed 370ºC (700ºF).

-The force applied on a soldering iron should not be more that it’s own weight.

-To prevent the tip from oxidizing and corroding fresh solder should be added before putting the iron back in its stand.

-Adapt the tip size correctly to the solder joint.

-Do not apply abrasive surfaces to clean the plated area.

-Use a mild flux.

-Keep sponges clean and damp, not swamped.

-Only use original JBC sponges; other sponges may contain substances that reduce tip life.

-Use distilled/de-ionized water and avoid tap water; tap water contains substances that reduce tip life.

-Only use tip re-tinner when absolutely necessary; when the tip is oxidized and cannot be cleaned using the sponge or other non agressive cleaning methods.
