Each of the soldering stands automatically detects when the tool has been placed in the stand. It then reduces the tip temperature below that of the melting point of solder.

After the tool has been holstered in the stand for a further period of time, the hibernation mode will then kick in. This will cut off the power supply to the tip, allowing it to reach room temperature. By doing this, the cartridge is better protected from oxidation, whilst also conserving energy.

This technology helps JBC cartridges to have a lifespan that is 5 times longer than many other soldering brands on the market.
