What Is Solder Wire?

Solder is metal wire that has a low melting point, that allows it to be melted with a soldering iron. Flux facilitates the soldering process by removing any impurities found at the site of the solder joint, such as dirt or oxidation, either by mechanical cleaning or through the use of chemicals.
