ESD Grounding

Kaisertech's range of ESD Grounding products ensure that electrostatic charge is dissipated away from the user of electronic equipment to protect ESD sensitive electronic components from the damaging effects of static. ESD sensitive production areas should always provide a buried shielding layer and a sealed surface for a controlled path to ground.

Even a small amount of static charge can be sufficient to harm or destroy sensitive electronic components. That's why good ESD grounding is essential in any environment. This is especially true when working with PCBs, microchips, and other static-sensitive devices.

Choosing right ESD grounding equipment:

Static electricity accumulates all the time by moving around, picking up tools, or walking across specific floors. Without grounding, the static charge might discharge into the components you're working on, leading to immediate or long-term damage.

The right ESD grounding equipment:

  • Helps you stay compliant with industry standards
  • Reduces product failures and costly rework
  • Creates a safer and more controlled workspace for your team

What ESD Grounding Products Do You Need?

Wrist straps & grounding cords

A wrist strap is made to be worn on your skin. It keeps in touch with your body's natural electrical charge. It has a conductive material that allows static energy from your body to be transmitted through a grounding cord. This cord connects to a grounding point, such as a mat or bonding socket, and safely discharges the charge to the earth. The strap prevents the development of static electricity, which could damage delicate electrical components, by maintaining this continuous connection.

Heel straps & ESD footwear

Heel straps are made to be worn over regular shoes. They have special threads that touch the skin through socks. These threads connect to the floor. When a person walks on an ESD-safe floor, the heel strap helps release static energy.

ESD footwear, like regular shoes, have built-in conductive soles. These soles work better and are more reliable.

Bonding plugs & grounding points

Bonding plugs are placed in the earth pin of a mains socket. They do not conduct electricity. Instead, they provide a safe grounding path. They have terminals that allow you to connect multiple ESD devices, such as mats, wires, and wrist straps. These plugs are important for making sure that everything in your ESD workstation is safely grounded.

Common point grounds

A common point ground acts as a central grounding hub. It is usually linked to a bonding connector or a certified earth point. It allows you to link many ESD protection equipment, such as wrist straps, mats, and workstations, to a single, common ground. This makes sure that all parts of your ESD setup share the same ground reference. This reduces the chance of differences that could lead to static discharges.
