Recently, our team had the opportunity to visit Advanced Rework Technology (A.R.T.), where we helped set up a new suite of Purex fume extraction systems in their cutting-edge training lab.

It was great to be back on-site with the A.R.T. team, seeing familiar faces, exploring their impressive new space, and supporting their mission to empower the next generation of engineers and technicians.

The Challenge: Clean Air, Simplified

In electronics environments, soldering and rework naturally produce fumes and fine particulates that can compromise air quality. For A.R.T., maintaining a safe, comfortable learning space was essential — but traditional extraction systems can be bulky, noisy, and complex to install.

That’s where Purex International’s FumeCube systems shine. Designed for simplicity and reliability, they can be unboxed, connected, and operational within minutes — no special installation or technical training required.

As Jon from our team demonstrated during the visit, the setup process really is that simple:

“It’s just a matter of connecting the flexible hose, positioning the arm, and plugging in the unit — clean air in minutes.”

The Solution & Installation in Action

On the day of installation, our engineers worked side by side with the A.R.T. team to ensure each unit was fitted precisely for the lab’s layout. Every workstation required its own extraction arm, positioned to deliver optimal airflow without restricting movement or workspace visibility.

The Purex FumeCubes arrived pre-assembled with their filter pads and HEPA filters in place, ready for rapid deployment. Installation began with:

• Unboxing and inspection of each system, checking filter alignment and seal integrity.
• Mounting the flexible extraction arms to each bench using adjustable clamps.
• Connecting the hoses securely to the main extraction unit beneath each workstation.
• Positioning the flexible arms, allowing operators to direct extraction precisely over their soldering points.
• Power connection via a standard kettle lead — a single plug-and-play setup that made electrical installation effortless.

Several of the installed systems included integrated LED-lit extraction arms, enhancing visibility during delicate soldering and inspection work. Once each unit was secured and tested, we ran live demonstrations to verify suction strength, air filtration, and noise levels across multiple benches.

Within just a few hours, the entire lab was operational — fully equipped with efficient, whisper-quiet extraction that’s as easy to maintain as it is to use.

Results: A Clean Start for Future Engineers

The result is a training environment that meets the highest standards of health, safety, and efficiency. With Purex systems filtering up to 99.997% of airborne particles, A.R.T.’s students can now train in a space that mirrors industry-level safety conditions while focusing fully on their craft.
